BASEBALL - MARTIAL ARTS - FITNESS TRAINING
For Chuck Schumacher, it's all about the movement. Whether it's martial arts, baseball, or fitness training, Chuck believes mastery of the basics is necessary for success at any level of play. When asked "How do you get good at something?", many will say - repetitions. This narrow mindset has led many athletes past the point of no return as they mindlessly repeat the same incorrect movements over and over, sabotaging their well-intentioned efforts to become a high--level athlete.
“Repetitions alone may represent a good work ethic, but correct repetitions represents good training”.
The mind and body will learn what we give them, so for Chuck's students, the focus is not only learning the correct mechanics, stances, and sequencing of movement, but the development of a still and unoccupied mind which is crucial in the heat of battle.
Chuck began his training in traditional Okinawan Karate in 1977 at Bob Ozman Karate in Sherman Oaks , California and has trained continuously to this day. In 1991, Chuck Began his long tenue as a volunteer baseball coach in Franklin, TN when his son Phillip began playing at the age of six. It didn't take long before Chuck started applying the philosophies of martial arts to his baseball teams, understanding that youth sports is not just about winning games, but more importantly, it's about character and physical development. Many years of coaching at all levels including high school, finally led to the opening of Chuck's Gym in 2006, a training facility for baseball, martial arts, and personal fitness. In 2022, Chuck moved back to Redondo Beach, Ca and became a coach for Garciapara Baseball Group at the Los Angeles Dodger Training Academy and continues his career as a private baseball, karate, and fitness trainer.
